Avatar (2009)

PG-13 | 2h 42min | Action, Adventure, Fantasy | 18 December 2009 (USA)

It felt like a century since I watched Avatar. It’s time to movie chat about a classical film or modern film. Whatever you guys want to call it. Avatar is a story of an ex-Marine who finds himself on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he must fight for his own survival and that of the aliens. I did not watched the movie in theaters, but watched it on Blu-Ray.  Avatar was an amazing film because of the heavily use CGI and special effects. Also, it was an amazing Sci-Fi experience that brought me to a whole other planet. “You are not in Kansas anymore, you are in Pandora”.

Let me be blunt, Avatar is one of the few movies that I could sit and watch without leaving my seat due to boredom. (Besides going to the restroom) James Cameron’s Avatar is the one of the most entertaining film in my life. I can imagine how long it took for Cameron to write the entire movie. What he has done here is one of the most creative film project put out there. His creativity and passion in film making will make any actors feel honor to work for him.

Avatar is a story of a paraplegic marine, Jake Sully played by Sam Worthington who replaces his brother on a secret mission to infiltrate the Na’ vi, the colony that sit on the planet of Pandora, where there is a precious ore, that sells at a high amount. The goal is for human to gain the trust of the Na’ vi population and leech their ore from Pandora and bring it back to Earth for profit. (Sounds like a colonization.)

To me, the first part of the film is the weakest and slow, but when the second act place, it’s exciting and full of action with no limits. (Of course keeping things appropriate) Avatar delivers the best action and visual effects on film of the year. I would have to say, it is one of the best combination of plot and visual effect in my life.

James Cameron has come for nearly a decade to further prove his impact in the movie industry. Cameron already got Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Titanic, two very memorable movies and very different theme. And, now with another game changing film Avatar. I am sure James Cameron is setting the standard high for other directors to reach his level. This movie contains the best blend of action, adventure, romance, story line and visual effect. Are there any directors that can rival James Cameron’s creativity and impact?

Avatar is definitely the best films of the year. I will not be surprise if the future of cinema will be impacted due to this movie.  Avatar is a movie experience that you should give a chance to experience.
